After 12 years of building brand loyalty among kids and families riding 20″, 24″, 26″, and 27.5″ mountain bikes, family-owned and Fort Collins-based Trailcraft Cycles is going all in with 29″ carbon frames, offering both hardtail and full-suspension models. The Timber 29 Carbon hardtail and the Maxwell 29 Carbon full suspension come in black or turquoise colorways, offering small, medium, and large adult sizes, four standard build packages, or you can go the full custom route. They even offer fully anodized components (seatpost clamps, stems, thru-axles…), straight out of 1995.

The Maxwell spent the 2025 season under real race testing with the HART Pro Cycling Team, Colorado High School League racer Ben Brown, and SendTown director of coaching Andy Clark. After a season of feedback and refinement, Ginger and Brett Rosenbauer have finalized the builds and are now rolling them out for teens and adults ready to take on the Dirt Pile, Laramie, Colorado High School Mountain Bike League races, or whatever adventure your family can throw at them.

Like the rest of the Trailcraft lineup, the frames carry local inspiration with names pulled from our Northern Colorado trails, including Pineridge, Blue Sky, Timber, and Maxwell.

Another model is expected to drop later this year.

I’m telling ya, an XT built Timber 29 Carbon will be perfect for the SendTown Dirt Pile races.

Mick McDill with Alpine Dental Health is among the strongest masters mountain bikers in Northern Colorado (despite the stereotype, he does not ride a Yeti) with strong results at the Leadville 100, BC Bike Race, Breck Epic, and, more importantly, the Sendtown Tuesday night races. He's one of my favorite nemeses on Tuesday nights. I've yet to beat the PR I set while chasing him down Kimmons way back during a Lory Mountain Bike Challenge race. He's a longtime member of the Northern Colorado…
