The Town of Windsor is planning a 10 acre bike park as part of a 60 acre community park in north Windsor. Tara Fotsch of the Town of Windsor Parks, Recreation and Culture department said they are hoping to begin construction as early as 2027, pending funding. The park is being described as an all wheels park, designed to be inclusive to scooters, bikes, wheelchairs and more, with features that cater to a wide range of ages and abilities.

What makes this an all wheels park versus a traditional bike park comes down to intent. The goal is not to build something for a single user group, but to create a space that works across disciplines. That means a mix of features and terrain that can be used by kids on scooters, adaptive riders, beginners on balance bikes, and experienced riders looking for progression.

The larger community park will span roughly 60 acres, with about 10 acres currently set aside for the all wheels park. There is also room to expand into adjacent open space as the park evolves. For reference, the Berthoud Bike Park is 20 acres.  It’s worth noting that the Berthoud park includes a large asphalt pump track. Windsor already has an asphalt Velosolutions pump track located at another park.

The projected budget for the all wheels park is $940,000. The current timeline hinges on a grant request through Great Outdoors Colorado. If awarded, construction could begin in 2027. If not, the project may be pushed into a later phase of the overall park buildout.

Planning and design efforts are being led by BHA Design and American Ramp Company, with input from public stakeholders. As part of that process, the survey is intended to gather feedback on what types of features and riding styles the community wants to see included. Importantly, that survey is open to anyone, not just Windsor residents.

The proposed site is located north of Ridgeline Middle School in north Windsor.

For those already familiar with Windsor’s riding options, the town is not starting from scratch. An existing asphalt pump track at 5005 Harmony Ridge Parkway, built by Velosolutions, covers roughly 20,000 square feet and was completed with a budget of $250,000. The new all wheels park would build on that foundation, offering a broader range of terrain and features in a dedicated space designed for progression and access.

Windsor's Velosolutions asphalt pump track was built in 2023.
