We’ve always got something ‘BIG’ going on at YGR, the most recent development is the hiring of Grant VanHoose as our first CSU intern. Believe it or not, I’ve learned a lot over the past 6 years running YGR and I’m looking forward to passing on some of those lessons on to Grant. Everything from advertiser relations, and social media best practices to content development and event promotion. I don’t have a degree in business or web development so running a website and brand that has become my sole source of income has been interesting to say the least.

Howdy Fort Collins,
Dan’s new intern here, the name’s Grant VanHoose but if you feel more comfortable calling me intern that’s fine. I am very excited to be joining the YGR team and to help grow our cycling community even more!
I moved to the Fort three years ago from Edmond, Oklahoma so I could use Colorado State University as an excuse to ride my bike in Northern Colorado on a daily basis, what a fun three years it has been! I will be finishing up my degree this coming fall in the College of Business with a Marketing Concentration. To this point, the majority of my involvement in the community has been from managing Butler Cycling and being a CSU Cycling officer, it’s been an awesome experience to work with so many local companies and people that play such important roles in our local cycling scene and local economy. Like a lot of you, I dream of racing in France in that one big event, what’s it called again? (I’ll try my best to not be sarcastic in too many articles) But if racing the bike doesn’t work out I hope to start a barbecue joint in town with Tom Bondurant or go onto law school. Hopefully that law school has a team almost as much fun as the Rams Cycling Team so I can keep pedaling. Seriously you should hope Tommy B will start a restaurant with me, that’s the real dream, if you try his brisket you’ll understand.
I’ve been lucky enough to meet a lot of you involved on the road side of things in the cycling community and I’m stoked to get to know many more of you. Fair warning, I’m a full blown roadie… so mountain bikers and cross folks, I’m going to have to work extra hard to cover your alls side of things!
Over the next few months, I’m going to be bringing you all interviews with cyclists from around town as well as bike reviews on a weekly basis. Every month, look forward to a feature story, if anyone has any information on hiking boot guy, please contact me immediately! Additionally, I’ll be pulling out all of the history on Wednesday Worlds and an article on the psychology involved in separating training and riding.
