February 6, 2026 Update
- Yesterday, February 6th, 2026, Arikita made his first appearance before a judge at the Larimer County Justice Center. Arikita’s first appearance was procedural, not evidentiary, with no testimony or arguments about guilt. District Court Judge Juan Vilasenor formally advised him of the vehicular homicide reckless driving charge, reviewed his rights, addressed bond conditions, confirmed legal representation, and scheduled the next court date.
- Vilasenor scheduled his Disposition Hearing for 11:30 AM on March 23rd, 2026, in room 5A of the Larimer County Justice Center.
- Arikita is represented by Brad Martin of Martin & Reed LLC in Greeley, CO.

- First Appearance: Arikita is scheduled to appear in Courtroom 5A at the Larimer County Justice Center (201 LaPorte Ave). This hearing serves as a formal advisement of rights and a reading of the felony charges.
- At the First Appearance, the proceeding is primarily procedural and brief. The judge will confirm the defendant’s identity, ensure they have received the formal charging document, and advise them of their constitutional rights, including the right to counsel. Since bond has already been posted in this case, the court will likely review and reinforce the Conditions of Release, which may include travel restrictions or “no-contact” orders. Importantly, no plea is entered at this stage; the hearing concludes by scheduling the next court date to allow the defense time to review the evidence (discovery) provided by the District Attorney.Â

- Incident Date: Ian Dickinson is killed in a collision involving Wilson Arikita.
The crash occurred around 1:21 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025, as Dickinson and Arikita were traveling eastbound, climbing toward Horsetooth Mountain Park on the west side of the park. Conditions were clear and dry, and the posted speed limit in the area is 45 mph. The Colorado State Patrol has not issued a press release, but according to the initial crash report, Arikita, riding a 2023 Honda Rebel 1100, passed another motorcycle at nearly twice the posted speed limit, lost control, and ran onto the right shoulder, where the motorcycle struck Dickinson, who was riding his beloved Kestrel road bike. The bicycle came to rest in the grassy area on the right side of the road. The motorcycle continued eastbound, traveled off the left side of the road, and tumbled before coming to rest.
Dickinson was pronounced dead at the scene. Arikita, 61 at the time, was transported by ambulance to the Medical Center of the Rockies with serious injuries.
