2023 Transportation Projects Fair

FC Moves will be hosting a project fair on the 23rd of February. Residences will have the opportunity to see what transportation-related projects are coming up in the near future in and around Fort Collins. In my opinion, a couple of things of note are; CSU transportation's Dixon Canal, Larimer Ditch and Front Range Trail projects and the Power Trail at Harmony Rd. grade-separated crossing & Siphon and Union Pacific overpass.

Cyclist Killed on Lemay Ave

I'm sad to report that a male cyclist was killed today, February 12th, according to a Fort Collins Police Services press release.  The crash happened at the intersection of Lemay Ave and Centennial Rd at approximately 12:51 p.m. As of Sunday evening, the cyclist's identity had not been released. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by the crash. 

Berthoud Bike Park Opens

According to the Loveland Reporter Herald construction has started on Berthoud's 24-acre, $2.2 million bike park. The park will be located inside the 86-acre Richardson Park, at the north end of Meadowlark Drive.

Overland Seeks Membership & Outreach Coordinator

Overland Mountain Bike Association, our local IMBA chapter, is hiring a Membership & Outreach Coordinator.

Winter Bike to Work Day Map and Whatnot

Winter Bike to Work (or Wherever) Day day is coming up on Friday, February 10, 2023. This year, FCMoves has 54 stations, hosted by over 100 local businesses and organizations, including 7 schools ready to pop up all around Fort Collins. Breakfast will be available until gone between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Some stations will have propane heaters and mechanics in addition to breakfast.

Overland Trail Talks- February 2023 at Niner Bikes

Niner Bikes is hosting the Overland Mountain Bike Association for its February Trail Talks event at its new location in Fort Collins. OMBA will be discussing planned & expected trail projects throughout the Northern Front Range region for 2023. Come with questions, and comments, or simply listen. LOTS of great projects on the horizon.

YGR Time Trials and Send Town Short Track & CX Dates

Dates have been set for YGR Time Trials, the Send Town Short Track and Send Town Cyclocross Races. All of these low-cost grassroots races take place on Tuesday nights during the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Details on City Streets Crits and Crazy Joe Cross are forthcoming.

FoCo Fondo Leadership Team

Zack and Whit, with the FoCo Fondo, announced riders that will make up their Leadership Program this week. Each of these athletes represents a historically underrepresented and under-supported demographic within the cycling community.  These leaders, representing BIPOC, Non-Binary, Para, and Women communities, will encourage athletes to participate in events like the FoCo Fondo and others and support them along the way.

Hughes Property Input Requested

The City of Fort Collins is requesting community input with regard to the former Hughes Stadium property. They have a short survey and updates posted on the new project website.

Charges Filed Against Pilot

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office announced today that charges had been filed against the pilot whose plane crashed into Horsetooth Mountain Open this past summer. The crash forced a number of trails to be closed for several days during the investigation and cleanup. The suspect has since fled the country.

1st City Cycling Partners with Trek Fort Collins

After over a decade with ProVelo Bicycles, the 1st City Cycling Team will be representing the North and South Fort Collins Trek shops for 2023 and beyond. In a way, FCCT, which is among the largest and most active amateur cycling teams in Northern Colorado, is returning to its roots. The team was sponsored by Lee's Cyclery in the early 2000s before partnering with ProVelo in 2009.
