2026 One Speed Open

The One Speed Open, a super lowkey single speed gravel race benefiting local nonprofits, will take place on Saturday, March 28th at 9 am. The start and finish are at Sodgy Brewing.

CSU Heads to Collegiate Gravel Nats

The Colorado State University cycling team is sending a strong roster to the first ever Collegiate Gravel National Championships this weekend in Turkey, Texas. The race is part of the Valley of Tears gravel race weekend and marks the first national championship for collegiate racers.

HART Launch Video Series

Fort Collins based HART Accel Pro Cycling opened its 2026 season with a week long training camp in St. George, Utah in January. The camp brought the team together for early season training and served as the launch point for a new video series that will follow the squad throughout the year.

2026 Team Update: Fort Follies

The Fort Follies kicked off their 2026 season this week at Incycle Bicycles South. With 192 riders, the Fort Collins based nonprofit is the largest cycling team in Northern Colorado. The femme cycling club includes riders of all ages and abilities who ride and optionally race road, mountain bike, gravel, and cyclocross.

Fossil Creek Trail Reopens

Fossil Creek Trail between Trilby and Carpenter roads reopened on Friday, February 27, 2026, a month ahead of its original March 31st completion date. The trail was temporarily closed for a joint stream rehabilitation project designed to improve flood resilience and stabilize stream banks. During the closure, crews completely removed two bridges, relocated and rerouted a third. These upgrades ensure the trail and surrounding ecosystem can better withstand seasonal irrigation flows and major storm events.

Soapstone, Red Mountain & Hermit Park Reopen

Soapstone Prairie Natural Area, Red Mountain Open Space and Hermit Park Open Space have reopened for the season. Soapstone Prairie Natural Area, managed by Fort Collins Natural Areas, Hermit Park Open Space and Red Mountain Open Space, managed by Larimer County, close annually in December and reopen on March 1st. The public open spaces close each winter due to the "sensitive wintering range for large mammals and low recreational opportunities."

Bike to Work Day Recap

Winter Bike to Work Day returned to Fort Collins on Friday, February 13th, with a record turnout. The event, organized by FC Moves, drew just over 2,400 riders, the highest attendance ever for the winter ride.

Team Update: Corndoggies Cycling Team

A new team is rolling into Fort Collins in '26 with a roster that already feels established. The Corndoggies Cycling Team may describe itself as starting small, but with 28 riders, I'd beg to differ.

The team is led by John Lawyer, who has been active in the Fort Collins cycling scene for more than a decade as both a rider and a sponsor. He previously backed the Miiflo Cycling Team and privateer Michael Kanter before launching his own squad with the help of his wife SJ.

Built around partnership, accountability, and community, the team’s focus is simple: help riders achieve their personal goals, whether that means racing or reaching a big mileage milestone. When Lawyer launched Corndoggies in 2016, the cycling community showed up for him. Nearly ten years later, this team feels like a full circle moment.
