Updated: Cyclist Found Deceased

I'm sad to report that a cyclist was found deceased in Old Town this morning.

Fort Collins Police Services responded to a report of an individual down near a bicycle at the intersection of Canyon Avenue, Magnolia Street, and Sherwood Street. The location is a three-way intersection.

The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators believe the incident involved a single bicyclist. There is no indication that a motor vehicle was involved.

2026 Team Update: Breakaway Cycles

Breakaway Cycles out of Loveland has announced its 2026 team, with a full slate of road, gravel, and mountain bike events on the calendar along with a strong returning roster.
The team will take on major events across the country while continuing its long-running Estes Challenge (riding to Estes from Loveland once a month, every month for over a decade) tradition and hosting Saturday shop rides from Breakaway Cycles throughout the season.

Fort Collins Stays Platinum

The League of American Bicyclists has announced that Fort Collins has once again earned a Platinum-level Bicycle Friendly Community ranking.

According to the League, Fort Collins was ranked Silver in 2003, again in 2005 and 2007, Gold in 2008, Platinum in 2013, and has retained Platinum ever since, with renewals in 2017, 2021, and 2025.

CSU Race Weekend 2026

The voter-approved project to build a multi-use space at the former Hughes Stadium site is moving forward. This page will act as the hub for information about Hughes and, specifically, the bike park.

Winter Bike to Work Day 2026

Fort Collins’ 19th Annual Winter Bike to Work Day will take place Friday, Feb. 13, 2025. Morning stations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., with Bike From Work Day stations running in the afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This year’s event includes 52 morning stations and 8 afternoon stations hosted by dozens of local businesses and organizations across Fort Collins. Breakfast will be available while supplies last at morning stations between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., with afternoon stations open from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Weiss to be Released, License Not Revoked

Amy Weiss, the driver convicted in the death of 10 year old Oliver Stratton, is scheduled to be released today from Larimer County’s Alternative Sentencing Program. Weiss will have served approximately nine months of a one year sentence that began on May 16, 2025, after receiving credit that reduced her time in custody.

Fort Collins Gravel People is hosting a memorial ride for Minneapolis-based mountain biker Alex Pretti on Saturday, January 31st. The short, no-drop, paved ride will meet at Lee Martinez Park in Fort Collins at 12 pm.  The ride will begin at 1230.
